Shipping & Delivery

Our aim is to provide delivery service which is fast, reliable and as cost efficient as possible. We work very closely with our shippers to ensure complete satisfaction to our customers. Unless you request otherwise, your purchase will be shipped via standard shipping rates. At Vinosofia, all our wines are stored in a temperature-controlled storage area and/or retail premise, and we wish to provide our customers every possible assurance that our fine wines are handled and stored in the best possible conditions while the products are under our control.

Dates of shipping and delivery that Vinosofia may provide its customers are approximations only, and actual shipping and delivery dates may vary.

Conditions Affecting Shipment
Note: wine is sensitive and we want you to enjoy your wine at it’s best expression, therefore we monitor weather conditions. Wine is a perishable product that must be kept below a certain temperature, just like perishable foods and if it is exposed to high temperatures for extended periods of time, it will cook. If your wine is cooked, it won’t taste right. We take extreme care in shipping you wine in cellar stored condition. We strongly recommend shipping Your wine during mild weather conditions, usually during the spring or fall. We prefer to ship from September to Early December and March to June. We discourage wine shipments during the summer months (July & August), as warm weather can adversely affect wine. During extreme weather conditions, Vinosofia may delay Your shipment until conditions improve. We reserve the right to delay your order and to release it for delivery only when conditions improve.

In such circumstances, we will advise you at the time your order is processed that we do not recommend shipping your order. If you instruct us to send your wine despite adverse weather conditions we will do so, but the risk will be yours. Vinosofia does not accept responsibility for goods damaged during transit to the buyer. Please take note of the terms below concerning Refunds, Returns & Exchanges. Having your order picked up at the store is also an option at no charge at all. We also offer free delivery with-in the town of Spello on any order of €50,00 or more.

We deliver to a large number of countries worldwide using a network of experienced wine shippers. Overseas orders may be liable to import taxes in the destination country, which the recipient shall be liable for unless paid in advance at time of placing the order. Many countries, even within the EU, also require additional customs and excise documentation for the importation of alcoholic beverages. Therefore we recommend that you contact a dedicated international shipper or a local supplier located in the country in question. If in doubt please don’t hesitate to contact us. All overseas orders will be re-packed in polystyrene export cartons for safe transit; we may be able to arrange to ship original cases if requested when order is placed.

Buyers are advised that some states place restrictions, including but not limited to limits on quantity, on the alcoholic beverages which a resident may bring into the state, and it is Your sole responsibility to be informed of and abide by such restrictions, and to comply with any conditions Your state may impose, including but not limited to the payment of any taxes such state may impose on wines shipped into such state. We cannot ship Spirits or Grappa to the USA. By placing an order, You warrant that You are in compliance with the laws and regulations of the state to which You elect to ship wines.

Vinosofia will ship purchased wine to states where wine shipments are allowed. In order to comply with state laws, Vinosofia DOES NOT SHIP wines to addresses in the following states:

North Dakota

Ship wine in Alabama is allowed ONLY to”ABC STORE”
the receiver has to fill out the form we send at the order and the receiver should pick up the wine at the selected “ABC STORE” (not door to door delivery)

Please contact Vinosofia if you reside in one of these states to discuss possible alternative arrangements to purchase wines. We suggest you visit your Alcoholic Beverage Control board at for more information or learn more about the “Free the Grapes” coalition.

Deliveries should be signed for as ‘Not Examined’ and you should inspect the goods as soon as possible and notify us immediately of breakages or wine shortages. We are unable to guarantee credit or replacements unless we are notified within 3 days of delivery of the order.

You must be 21 years of age or older to purchase wine from Vinosofia. It is highly recommended that you provide us with a business shipping address for best service. Customer comments on their order such as “Please leave on back porch” or “Please leave at front door” will be ignored! Title to, and ownership of, all wine passes from Vinosofia to the purchaser in the USA and the purchaser takes all responsibility for shipping it from the address given to any other address. By arranging for transportation of the wine, Vinosofia is providing a service to, and acting on behalf of the purchaser. By utilizing this service from Vinosofia, the purchaser is representing that he/she is acting in a fashion compliant with his/her local and state laws regarding the purchase, transportation and delivery of wine. The purchaser represents that he/she has obtained any required permission, paid any required fees, is working through properly licensed intermediaries where required, is legally entitled to take possession of wine and is legally entitled to take quantities ordered and once again authorizes that he/she is 21 years of age.

If for any reason you will not be able to receive your order at Your given address after you have paid for your order and has not yet been picked up by our shippers, or if the weather conditions are not ideal we will gladly store Your wine at no charge for up to 3 months after your order is confirmed and available to ship. While Your wine is in our temperature-controlled storage area, Vinosofia maintains appropriate insurance coverage on all stored wines. We reserve the right to charge monthly storage fees of €5,00 per case per month at present after 3 months. After 1 year Vinosofia can no longer be responsibile for Your wine storage and it will be shipped to Your original given address regardless of the weather conditions.

We reccomend storing wines between 45° F and 65° F, 55° F is ideal. The bottle should be on its side, in a horizontal position, in contact with the cork. Humidity level is ideal at 70 percent. The storage space should be dark away from sunlight and away from any machines or vibrations. If the wines have been shipped outside of Italy, we highly reccomend that you allow them to acclimate. We suggest to lay them down, in ideal storage conditions (stated above), for at least 3-6 months. This said, consider planning ahead for best drinking results.
